Nackawic grew virtually overnight in the late 1960's with the construction of the Mactaquac Dam and pulp mill. Designated as the Forestry Capital of Canada in 1991, Nackawic is surrounded by beautiful green space and wildlife. Sitting on the banks of the St. John River, the World's Largest Axe reminds us of the importance of the forest industry to the town and the Province of New Brunswick. Whether it's the breathtaking scenery, the many recreational activities, or friendly people, Nackawic offers something for everyone.
